VeganSpin is a vegan food blog dedicated to showcasing accessible plant-based recipes for everyday life. This is a personal project for me and my partners Nichole Dinato, Daniel Phung and Anthony Carter. Nichole hopes to eventually turn this blog into a viable revenue stream, but for now it is just a creative outlet. We are building the site in phases, gradually adding functionality and content, according to a plan that we map out near the end of every phase, that fits in with our overall business plan.

What I did

I registered the domain, set up the server and installed WordPress. Helped with the overall design using Photoshop, CSS, HTML and Javascript. Set up the dev site and used Subversion for version control and tracking changes. Created a one-click build to push from development to production. Created a custom WordPress theme and plug-ins, to suit the needs of all users. Integrated with the following social media sites using their APIs: Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus and Pinterest. I'm the head photographer for the site; I take the food pictures using a lightbox and a Cannon T1I DSLR camera. I currently do all the post-production on all photographs using Photoshop Elements.
